What do the team behind this boutique chalet and retreat centre get up to out of season? Lots of dog walking, visiting neighbours and planning next year’s garden.

This is our first Autumn in the Alps. This is my favourite time of year, although I think I say that every season. There’s so much excitement and anticipation for winter and the snow that’s to come. It’s comparable to spring excitement for the summer that follows, as if mountain regions experience two period of heightened potential each year.

Rust, russet, amber, chestnut, burgundy, mahogany – autumnal colours are aflame here as you can see from these photos. But autumn in the Alps is especially wonderful also for all the evergreen greens that remain. It’s an inspiring combination.

Here at Chalet Rosière we’re busy with building works, including installing a boot room, meditation tipi and wood burning sauna! We’re busy planning ski yoga retreats and coming up with entirely new and distinctly curious ski holiday to delight our guests this winter.

Wishing you a mountain magical autumn with the words of John Muir:

As long as I live, I’ll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I’ll interpret the rocks, learn the language of the flood, storm and the avalanche. I’ll acquaint myself with the glaciers and wild gardens, and get as near to the heart of the world as I can.
