Welcome to Chalet Rosière
Located in Savoie, France, Chalet Rosière is an elegant yet cosy destination for winter and summer holidays alike. The chalet is ideally set, with a 180-degree view of the mountains, excellent facilities and unsurpassed tranquillity. We offer a luxury mountain experience away from the crowds, balancing adrenaline-fuelled fun with unspoilt nature and true relaxation.
Chalet Rosière is a carefully restored farmhouse dating back to 1881. This stand-alone chalet has five bedrooms and sleeps ten comfortably. The heart of the chalet is a generous and elegant lounge area with an open plan modern kitchen and a living area with a wood-burning fireplace. A wrap-around balcony and terrace provide stunning and unobstructed views across the Tarentaise valley.
The chalet sits at the end of the village of Les Laix in Montvalezan at 1440 meters. Les Laix is a charming rural hamlet in the traditional Savoyard style, quietly sitting on a south-facing slope high above the town of Bourg-Saint-Maurice and just below the ski resort of La Rosière. In addition, the world-class resorts of Val d’Isère and Tignes, Les Arcs and La Plagne are within easy reach, as well as the more quiet but excellent off-piste resort of Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise.
Our location is an excellent base for a wide range of activities throughout the year. In winter, the breadth of skiing opportunities is unsurpassed with piste and off-piste across six nearby resorts, as well as ski touring and heli-skiing. In summer, there is hiking and cycling from your doorstep, as well as golf, kayaking and other summer sports.
The Chalet
Chalet Rosière is spread over three floors and offers generous space to its guests, with a wrap-around balcony with East, South and West facing views. The top floor opens up into a living area, kitchen and mezzanine. The bottom floors hold five bedrooms and four bathrooms, altogether sleeping ten people.
The living area, on the top floor, is the heart of Chalet Rosière. Here you can curl up with a book from our library in front of a comforting wood-burning fire, listen to music, or enjoy a family movie night after an adrenaline fuelled day of sports. It features a lounge area with a fireplace, a beautiful leather sofa, two Le Corbusier chairs and a state of the art 65-inch flat screen TV.
The kitchen is modern, presents an open plan layout and was recently fitted with new appliances and tableware. There is also a large dining area and stairs leading up to a cosy mezzanine. The artwork in the chalet is a mix of antique copper engravings of Savoyard maps and views, and modern paintings.
In the chalet there are four double bedrooms, a bunk room with two beds and four bathrooms, two of which are en suite. The blend of old and new is reiterated in the bedrooms as the traditional panelling is met with crisp Italian linens from Frette® and a splash of colour with decorative cushions and throws made of 100% wool from Steiner1888®, an Austrian brand.

Location
Chalet Rosière is located on the edge of the village of Les Laix in Montvalezan at 1440 meters. Les Laix is a stunning rural hamlet in the traditional Savoyard style, quietly sitting on a South-facing slope high above the town of Bourg-Saint-Maurice and just below the ski resort of La Rosière. In addition, the world-class resorts of Val d’Isère and Tignes, Les Arcs and La Plagne are within easy reach, as well as the more quiet but excellent off-piste resort of Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise.
La Rosière
La Rosière has been described as the 'rising star of the Alps’. The resort is snow-sure throughout the winter season, while the South-facing slopes enjoy a sunny microclimate. Its ideal situation and charming French authenticity make La Rosière a delightful place to winter. The London Evening Standard: Homes & Property, grasped its most winning feature with 'It links directly with La Thuile in the Aosta Valley, meaning you can breakfast in France and ski to Italy for lunch.'
From the chalet, La Rosière is easily accessible with the free ski bus that runs 4 times a day between Seez and La Rosière Ski station. The distance from the chalet to the bus stop, Planzaput, is a 10 min/600m walk in flat terrain. To find the bus times for this winter season, click here.
For more information on the Ski resort La Rosière, click here to read the Telegraph's article and here to go to the official La Rosière website.
The chalet is well located and many different ski resorts can be easily reached by car. The times to different ski resorts are as follows:
~ 10 minutes to La Rosière
~ 15 minutes to Les Arcs and La Plagne (Via Villaroger)
~ 20 minutes to Sainte Foy Tarentaise
~ 25 minutes to Tignes
~ 35 minutes to Val d’Isère
Airport
Airport transfers can be arranged from Geneva Airport (GVA), Lyon (LYS) and Grenoble (GNB). The journey from all these airports to Chalet Rosière by car is around 2 hours. We advise you to rent or take your own car in order to be independent throughout your stay.
Car
The chalet is easily accessible by car in the summer and winter with private parking at your doorstep. Winter tires are obligatory and snow chains are strongly advised.
Train
One can also catch a train from the airport to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, with at least one change. Pick up at Bourg-Saint-Maurice can be arranged to greet you, whatever the weather.
The train from Kings Cross St Pancreas to Bourg-Saint-Maurice is another way to travel to Chalet Rosière from London. It’s low carbon, scenic, and there is a bar. During the ski season a direct train runs twice weekly. Alternatively you can stop off in Paris “pour dîner”. During the summer the journey is possible with one or two easy changes, often in Lyon and Chambèry.

Reviews
Ideally positioned to offer both easy access to a diverse range of ski resorts and magical views of the Tarentaise valley, Chalet Rosière sets the standard for breathtaking winter holidays. But the experience does not stop at the surroundings… between the décor’s elegant blend of modern and traditional, the spacious living area, and the remarkably comfortable beds, no detail has been left to chance. I had a wonderful time in Chalet Rosière and I simply cannot recommend it enough!

We had an amazing Christmas and new year holiday. Spacious, super clean and amazingly decorated. We had a great relaxing time. The chalet has all details you might expect, super beds and bedding, sofas, tv, kitchen appliances, bathrooms are spotless and the views will blow you away. The host is super nice and helpful, always available for anything you might need. The location is perfect for skiing because you have three top slopes to choose from. We ended up in La Rosière on the big days as it is less crowded and on other days in Val D'isere or Les Arcs. We are coming back again next Christmas!

I'm already thinking about my next visit! The chalet was perfectly placed for our short stay, so we were able to ski at a different station each day of skiing - from La Rosière, to Les Arcs, Val d’Isère and even Sainte Foy. The house looks out over the whole valley, giving the most gorgeous sunsets each evening and being the perfect place to relax after skiing next to the fire with some mulled wine. I loved every minute of our stay, and will definitely be back for longer next time!

Without doubt, the finest Skiing holiday we've ever had. To call Chalet Rosiere a home away from home is an understatement. Comfortable beds in beautifully appointed en suite rooms, a gorgeous lounge with an open fire, library and huge DVD collection (perfect for unwinding in the evening) and of course the hot tub with incredible views over the mountains. We were blessed with the weather, but more so with the access to a number of world class resorts all within a few minutes drive; not to mention Philip (himself a world class skier) who knows them all like the back of his hand and always pointed us in the right direction. A five star holiday, we look forward to coming back next year!

The rooms are delux, the fires roar, and it's blissfully peaceful being tucked away behind a traditional french village with lovely forests to disappear into. This is the kind of place you can spend a week at and not ski! Though the skiing is great and caters for all levels. Chalet Rosiere has been built on foundations of love and charm, and at the end of the day there is nowhere you would rather be than with your feet up in the bubbling hot tub soaking up the 180 degree mountain vista and sipping a cold beer. Get me back!

We had an amazing week here in January so much snow we even had to have a day off skiing and go discover the lovely walks around the Chalet. The location is perfect for all levels of skiers as there are so many resorts to choose from. We loved going over to Italy for pizza and skiing in the woods in Sainte Foy. The Chalet is so homely and beautifully decorated. You really do feel well looked after and couldn't want anything more. Stacks of hot water, huge comfy sofas and lovely fires. The little village is so charming and it makes such a difference not being in town. Pure luxury. We will definitely be back!

We ran a number of winter snow and summer alpine yoga retreats at Chalet Rosière. What can I say! A stunning location with draw dropping views of the Tarantaise valley, luxurious bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a cosy living space so you felt at home and a fantastic team to look after us. Philip Volkers with his exceptional knowledge of the local area made us all feel well and truly looked after on the piste and off. A must for anyone looking for a relaxing yet invigorating (and pampered!) mountain adventure!

Everyday a new delight, a softness, a kindness, a bright blue sky and a group of sparkling eyes. Thank you so much for a wonderful snowga retreat. Life feels recalibrated and more whole for it. A better way to live for sure. Delicious vegetarian food, comfortable beds and great company.
- Miranda Davis (Retreat Participant)
Our hosts looked after us extremely well, always ready to help. For experienced skiers, Phillip made a fantastic guide - he knows the mountains (and all important pit stops) like the back of his hand. Our chef cooked us delicious vegetarian meals, a different treat each day. The yoga was well taught and easy to follow, and what better place to practice it in - by an open fire overlooking the mountains.
